Privacy Policy for LastPing & LastPing Family

LastPing ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile applications, including LastPing and LastPing Family (collectively, the "App").

    Compulsory Account Authentication Notice:
    To guarantee privacy, prevent unauthorized device tracking, and maintain secure emergency channels,
    usage of the LastPing Family App requires compulsory user login (e.g., via Google Sign-In). Anonymous or unauthenticated access is strictly prohibited on LastPing Family to ensure only verified, authenticated family members can view location updates and emergency alerts.

1. Data We Collect

To provide core emergency safety and family monitoring functionality, LastPing collects the following data types:

Account & Authentication Information (Compulsory for LastPing Family): When you sign in to LastPing Family using Google Sign-In or Firebase Authentication, we collect your email address, display name, profile picture URL, and a unique Firebase User ID (UID). This information is strictly required to verify your identity, secure family device pairings, and enforce access controls.
Personal Information (Name): We collect your display name or custom device alias to identify you to your paired family members in the app and emergency notifications.
Identifiers (User IDs & Device Tokens): We collect your Firebase User ID and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token to manage pairing relationships, maintain secure database rules, and send real-time emergency push notifications.
Location (Precise & Background Location): We collect precise location data when an emergency alert or live SOS tracking session is active. This data is accessed even when the App is running in the background or when the screen is off to ensure your family receives accurate location data during emergencies. Location collection is activated only during emergency events or active tracking sessions.
SMS Capabilities (Fallback Emergency Messaging): On client devices, we utilize SMS capabilities to send emergency alerts to your designated emergency contacts when internet connectivity is unavailable. Standard carrier rates apply.
Selected Contacts: On client devices, we access your contacts only when you explicitly select a contact to add as an emergency recipient. We do not upload or store your entire contact list.
Device & Telemetry Status: We collect basic device information (battery level, hardware model, system version) to inform your paired guardians of your device's operational status during low-battery or emergency events.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely for essential safety and security features:

To authenticate your identity and restrict access to emergency tracking features exclusively to verified family members.
To route and display real-time emergency alerts, low-battery notifications, and live location updates to paired guardians.
To maintain cross-device synchronization and communication features (Pokes, Chat messages, and Status updates).
To manage pairing requests and enforce database access rules using Firebase Security Rules.

3. Information Sharing and Access Control

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to advertisers or third parties.

Your location data, emergency alerts, and operational telemetry are strictly private and are accessible only by authenticated family members whom you have explicitly paired with using our mutual pairing code or QR verification system.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account profile for as long as your account remains active. Operational event data (alerts, pokes, chat messages) is automatically pruned after 30 days. You have full control over your data and can request complete account and data deletion at any time within the App under Settings or on our web page.

5. Security

We implement strict security standards, including compulsory user authentication for guardian monitoring, Firebase Security Rules enforcement, and encrypted transmission (SSL/TLS) for all network requests.

6. Children's Privacy

Our App is designed as a family safety tool. Children using the App should do so with parental or guardian consent and supervision. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without parent/guardian authorization.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in app functionality or regulatory requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
